The Decemberists, “Margaret in Captivity”
Since I don’t trust my own brain, I need someone else to listen to this Hazards of Love track and tell me that the fingerpicking doesn’t sound EXACTLY like Bon Jovi’s “Dead or Alive”.
For real, is this happening?
They’re both simple little walk-downs, from D probably, but while this one keeps repeating the same four phrases, the Bon Jovi one continues to walk all the way down. Or something.
I think the scary part is the Bon Jovi song may actually be better.
The other scary part is I bet you I could find a Robyn Hitchcock song that does the same thing.
