Hey. Odd or even?

Even. It always has to be even. Odd numbers make me feel…odd. They’re hard and jagged where even numbers are soft and smooth. Odd numbers get stuck in my throat, even numbers roll off my tongue. Odd makes me feel uncomfortable. Even makes me feel safe.

I see colors as odd or even, too. Green is odd. Brown is even. Brown is also four, though I guess that makes sense to no one but me. Three is green. Pink is even. Yellow is odd. Nine is black.

Even.

I’m insanely jealous. As I’m sure you know, you’re lucky enough to possess a pretty rare neurological phenomenon called synesthesia, specifically color-synesthesia, in which your brain automatically associates numbers with specific colors.

I have one other friend who has this weird, seemingly random “gift” as well, but who, like most people, didn’t discover until well into adulthood that it was anything out of the ordinary.

I’ve always been fascinated by it, and there are TONS of books on the subject. I’d love to have this for a day just to see what it’s like.

So when you see a number, does the color flash through your head? Or, when you see the color, do you envision the number? Both? Nothing like that? Is it ever bothersome?
